THE CASE AGAINST “INTUITIVE ASTROLOGY“
Intuition not cultivated through skill is a euphemism for cluelessness
As several of my articles have already expounded upon, traditional astrology has nothing to do with what TikTokers or YouTubers call astrology while babbling about ascension or starseeds or ”energies“ entering into one’s third eye from the Arcturian mothership during a solar eclipse (YouTube actually suggested to me a video about the latter). Ancient astrologers, whose tradition I aim to honor, learned their craft through meticulous study and adherence to rules that had to be put into the right perspective. Their clients were well-off influential citizens or even royalty, and thus they couldn’t afford to deliver vague, generalized feelgood messages with no real world benefits or results, even if they certainly would have aimed to please their clientele. But they knew that their livelihood, and in some cases their life, depended upon being accurate first and foremost if they were able to hold a highly prestigious position at a royal court, for example. An astrologer who lacked competence might very well have been made to lack breath of life at some point in the past. Needless to say, I’m not advocating for punishment for being wrong or clueless, in case this needs to be mentioned for whoever is intent on misunderstanding me. My point is that astrology today has been devalued to such a degree that being an incompetent hack is not only acceptable, but can generate substantial online clout.
The droves of today’s social media characters fancying themselves priest or priestess of who-knows-what often aren’t familiar with the most fundamental basics of astrology, which of course doesn’t stop them from being highly opinionated (the same goes for many consumers of their content). Ancient astrologers had a deep understanding of the principles upon which to operate, or else they might have been made personally responsible for the king’s army losing a battle or whatever disaster they failed to forecast that befell their client. The principles underlying classical astrology still exist today, because they are what defines the craft in itself. They should be respected even – or rather, especially – in the modern times we live in that are so riddled with confusion and delusions, largely brought upon us by the New Age movement that is, underneath the hippy façade, Abrahamism and globalism embedded into a “spiritual“ framework.
Intuition is absolutely important within the right context. Any human being who isn’t cut off from their own essence has intuition, but the proper context for it within astrology must be based and built upon expertise. The misuse of intuition reminds me of the inflationary appearance of all those “empaths” online in recent years. Empathy, like intuition, is inherent in human nature and not a special faculty that elevates you above others. Anyone who doesn’t understand that intuition has its place and shouldn’t dominate one’s astrological practice clearly puts their own ego-gratification before the work. If they did put the work first, they wouldn’t need to harp on and on about how intuitive (aka special) they are, they’d simply deliver accurate forecasts and assessments on a continual basis. When has any of those “intuitive astrologers” made a forecast with at least approximate precision? Don’t hold your breath, because they usually and conveniently avoid making any at all. The hyper-focus on intuition above all else and “everyone has their own truth“ as an overarching theme is a thoroughly modern concept and is not found within traditional astrology or spirituality (another highly muddied term) prior to the New Age movement where excessive navel-gazing under the pretense of exploring one’s individuality and self-realization became rampant. Again: Intuition in astrology is valid, but it must be cultivated and based upon skill and competence, or it’s just a euphemism for cluelessness and, in the worst scenario, willful deception.
If you say astrology can be purely based on intuition and every person naturally has their own unique intuitive framework since we are all unique individuals, then what you’re effectively saying is that there is no proper astrological system, because everyone can make up their own version of it as they see fit. Now transfer this idea to maths or writing or any other skill, craft or science…the results would be disastrous. But somehow, because astrology is “pseudoscience“, this approach is totally acceptable. What we see here is the systematic debasement of astrology from the Science™ circles as well as the New Age subverters.
Modern astrology, “intuitive” or whatever else you wish to call it, is New Age astrology to the core, because the modern concepts simply did not exist before the New Age movement made a thing out of intuition, ascension, manifesting, the disproportionate elevation of the outer planets, the neglecting of the classical rulerships or essential dignities, and so on.
The Abrahamic religious and scientific paradigm as well as the modern so-called spirituality have all taught people that it’s okay to devalue and trivialize astrology either because it’s heretic, worthless or “everyone can do it“ (which is just another way of saying it’s worthless). By defending “intuitive astrology“, you de facto defend the insidious agenda that aims to discredit astrology. Congratulations, I guess.

Absolutely true. real astrologers make predictions, not babble on about star seeds and lion's gate nonsense.
as I see it the problem is that "intuition" and "intellectual" knowledge have flown apart. They need to be put back together. Astrology is "intellectual" in the sense that it depends on clear concepts and rules for making interpretations. but also, we "intuitively" know when an interpretation is good because it really does provide some genuine insight about a person or situation. So it's not that astrology can operate on cookie-cutter formulas (in which case AI could do it) but requires a human perspective.
