Fantastic article! And holy cow that medicine regimen he had to take before performing was insane! Quaalude AND amphetamine in one take before bed? No wonder he had insomnia.

Thank you! He had insomnia all his life, even as a child. This treatment only made it worse as he needed higher and higher doses of both uppers and downers to function. It was a vicious cycle. :(

Such a good article, and thank you for correcting some of the misconceptions out there about Elvis's health. It is sad that many people think his decline was all down to poor choices he made, when there was much more to it than that.

Elvis was truly extraordinary, a great soul that enriched the lives of so many millions of people. If I'm having a rough day for whatever reason, I often put Elvis on for a bit and I instantly feel a little better.

Thanks so much! Elvis’ music helped me through some dark moments, too. I kind of get why people are quick to judge celebrities, it’s the so-called culture we have today where they’re being put on pedestals and then ruthlessly knocked off as soon as they show weakness. The sensationalist tabloid media brings out the worst in people, because that’s the only way they consume the (mostly) garbage that’s being written. It’s just business for them, but it hurts real human beings. Elvis was so unfairly criticized, and pretty much every rumor about him was made up or totally exaggerated by Albert Goldman, a music critic and “author“ (more like slanderer), three ex-bodyguards who were bitter because they had been fired, and an ex-wife who has changed her story so much she doesn’t even remember it herself anymore. It’s a shame that people never consider the sources of their beliefs.

Wow Olivia 🥰 thank you! Just love Elvis' music, he was fantastic. Honestly love the films too although he did not! Growing up we had music more than TV.

Unfortunately, my youngest sister died from twisted colon turned gangrenous at age 19, doctors for some reason missed it. We too are Romany and my mothers generation were the first to marry out of the extended family.

We carry a few curses and blessings it seems.

Thanks again Olivia, you're fantastic 🤩
