FULL MOON IN SCORPIO
In a "hardcore Scorpio" Arabic Lunar Mansion
On May 1, we have a Full Moon in the fixed water sign Scorpio. This sign is traditionally ruled by Mars, and one of its greatest strengths is the sometimes uncanny ability to see through people’s intentions before they even give evidence for them. This highly attuned intuition, along with Scorpio’s capacity for endurance and a not always predictable fighting instinct can be a great asset when working on a longterm goal. However, Scorpio’s competitive and sometimes obsessive nature can become a tool for self-sabotage when Mars’ fire is not channeled into a constructive avenue.
With Scorpio’s ruler Mars currently in domicile in Aries, this Full Moon, symbolizing completion and the closing of a chapter, can feel like the final “That’s it, I’ve had it!“ moment when it comes to certain areas in our lives (symbolized by the houses the Moon and Sun fall into in our own chart). With the fiery energy of Mars, the water sign doesn’t really feel “watery“, but more like a mix of emotional water sign qualities sprinkled with loads of passion from Mars’ character. What this can tell us is to look at an area in our life where we have been examining our relationship to other people, money, our own self-image or career, for example, and have become more uncompromising and less tolerant to BS when it comes to taking charge even if it’s not in our nature to do so, and discarding that which feels misaligned or toxic.
The Moon is in an Arabic Lunar Mansion called The Scorpion’s Heart and The Snake, which perfectly mirrors this lunation’s theme of self-directed defense, exposing enemies or otherwise unhealthy arrangements, and also includes themes of death (as in letting go and letting something “die“ that can no longer be sustained). The most hardcore expression of this mansion is purely self-serving scheming and conniving, but it also has the potential for building something lasting and planting proverbial seeds for success. Having said that, it is not an easygoing lunar mansion at all and surrounds serious developments that can have important, durable effects later on. Scorpio doesn’t play, and its nature can be emotionally hyper-intense and tough to deal with, but this Full Moon offers some real grit and courageous energy.
