FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS
In an inspiring and integrating Arabic Lunar Mansion
On May 31, we have a Full Moon in the mutable fire sign Sagittarius. A Full Moon is an exact opposition of the Moon with the Sun (currently in Gemini), representing the culmination of a process and the closing of a chapter. The Gemini-Sagittarius axis is connected to the nervous system, the intellect and mental processes. It also has to do with spirituality and psychic openness, carrying a potential for great inspiration as well as overload.
The Moon is in an Arabic Lunar Mansion (Manzil) called the Ostriches, the Beam, or the Dragon’s Head. It is associated with collective work, traveling by land, hunting, dealing with animals, and building. It is said to be unsuitable for all financial matters. This Manzil is regarded as a place where our emotional and instinctive approach, signified by the Moon itself, is directed at a successful “hunt“ in the literal or proverbial sense, and is auspicious for active pursuit of a goal. Its theme is also about taming one’s lower instincts and tackling something from an intellectual angle rather than driven by feelings alone. Furthermore, it offers good potential for building something, whether physically or intellectually as it promotes eloquence and trade (however, there is also a risk of instability).
Given the mutable quality of Sagittarius and Gemini, this is a lunation that indicates passionate (but sublimated) ambitions, change, and the planets associated with the Manzil, Jupiter and Mars, show us where there is drive towards action and expansion. Mars is currently in Taurus, in detriment, supporting the Manzil’s non-impulsive character that doesn’t want to burst into passionate excess, but take things with a slower and more methodical pace while being clear about one’s goals. Jupiter, exalted in Cancer, wants to expand all that is connected to nurturing, home, emotional safety and operates on a gentle, intuitive, psychic wavelength.
Taken together, all these influences hint at something we have either managed, or are about to manage, to synthesize and grasp from an intellectual/ spiritual point of view. I other words, something we have “illuminated“ through the Sun’s Gemini nature, which is directed at rational and logical conclusions, with some potential chaos and surprises in the mix (Uranus is co-present in Gemini, after all). It can show where we have integrated a polarity of sorts, and have gained clarity therein. For example, our careers in coexistence with our private lives at home as represented by the 10th house-4th house axis. The strong intellect-meets-spirituality character also suggests that we can find answers to deeper questions of life, as in: What makes my brain light up, what is important to me on more than just the material level, where am I at home spiritually, what inspires me, and what fuels my creativity, freedom, optimism, and the need for expanding my horizons?
