On October 7 (or 6, depending on location), we have a Full Moon in the cardinal fire sign Aries. This sign symbolizes raw energy, the yet unstructured potential that can erupt through impulsivity and aggression, impatience, feisty confidence and not much of a delicate approach to pretty much anything. The immense power for change and gaining momentum that lies within the sign’s nature is a gift we can harness when it comes to building ourselves up through self-esteem and a “Let’s go and to this thing!“ attitude that knows neither fear nor caution. On the other hand, this proverbial fire in the belly can lead to unwarranted aggression over minor things, and charging forward with no filter when a little more tact and foresight would be in order.
A Full Moon symbolizes the end of a cycle or culmination of a certain path. Depending on where it happens in each person’s individual birth chart, it has varying impact on specific life areas represented by the houses in the chart, see below. We can regard a Full Moon as a good time to draw the final line under something, and also the task of finding a good balance of the two opposite forces, Sun and Moon, that are facing each other on the Aries-Libra-axis in this case. With the Moon in Aries, our emotions will be Aries-like, aka impulsive and very self-centered in terms of wanting to express ourselves courageously, without concerns for social or other filters. The Sun in Libra symbolizes our outward personality that, in this sign, tends to become too diplomatic and too ready to stand back just for the sake of peace. So here we have the raging fire of Aries that we might be hiding from the world, but feeling all the more intensely, and Libra’s cool-calm-collected, logical approach that calls on us to hold our horses.
Finding an equilibrium between the two extremes can mean releasing something that has been building up inside us, maybe something that we have a burning desire for, and making ourselves and our needs heard. On the other hand, maybe it’s also time for some of us to start looking at our relationships more and how we may have been a bit of an elephant in someone’s china store at times. What we give and take has to be fair, even if it isn’t always perfectly 50/50, and most of all, we have to have integrity and sincerity about how we truly feel. Both fierce competitiveness and harmonious thoughtfulness are qualities that we need. With the emotionally “fiery“ nature of this Full Moon, it is not unlikely that some people will have a very strong reaction, especially those who may have issues with impulse control. For those who usually have a hard time asserting themselves, this lunation can be a good time to reflect upon their needs and reframe their attitude in terms of allowing themselves to go for what they want. The T-square by sign with Jupiter in Cancer (potentially overblown feelings) can act as a serious trigger for the aforementioned impulsive or less self-aware types, so be warned.
